Minor lacrosse in its current form in Okotoks started in 1995 with the founding of the Okotoks Minor Lacrosse Association in 1995 by Dana Robinson and Brad Banister. Each year, Okotoks holds the Spring Classic Tournament. In recognition of their service to lacrosse and Okotoks the Banister Cup and Robinson Cup are presented to the Tournament Champions in the PeeWee and Novice divisions.
The club was originally called the Mustangs, but in 2013 changed its name to the Okotoks Raiders Lacrosse Association. Players from the Okotoks Mustangs/Raiders have gone on to play at the highest levels of the sport including the NCAA and the NLL.
